In accordance with recent tradition, the BACL season will begin with our league Jamboree. This will again be held at the Bury St Edmunds venue, Moreton Hall Community Centre, on 30 September and start at 7:30pm.
For those who haven’t taken part previously, all the league’s clubs are invited to take part and send any number of teams of four players per team. If a club doesn’t have enough interested players to form a team (or has some surplus but not enough to form another team), we also allow clubs to combine with others to create a team of four. Over the evening, you’ll play three rapid games (with a time control of 15m+10s) against a mixture of teams from different clubs. It’s normally somewhat chaotic, but that’s part of the fun and it’s a great chance to blow away the cobwebs before the season’s more serious league matches commence. If you haven’t played in the Jamboree previously, do make sure you arrive in good time so you get the chance to ask people how it all works, as it can be rather confusing.
If you’d like to take part in the Jamboree, please contact your club secretary in the first instance. Club secretaries should themselves contact Bob Jones who will be organising the event.
P.S. I don’t know exactly what rules will be in place in respect of wearing face-masks, but it will be worth bringing one along. One possibility is that we’ll follow the league rules: Any player may request that masks be worn in his game … If this request is made then both players will wear masks. See league rule 6.9.
